WebJan 7, 2024 · The Agyenkwa E-Levy which is currently before Parliament will however be imposed on the amount transferred. If the levy is really going to be on transferred amounts as proposed, then the best parliament can do is to amend the rate to 0.175%, which will constitute a disguised restoration of the scrapped nuisance tax. Some Ghanaians were against the levy claiming it does not serve the interest of common people. Some economists asked for the proposal to be reversed, claiming that it will jeopardize the government's digitalization efforts and plans to introduce the digital currency. Haruna Iddrisu said the Minority in Parliament would not support the E-levy claiming it seeks to take away the money of a bigger proportion of Ghanaians in multiple phases.
